Spicy Kubli Channa

The humble chick-pea is a favourite vegetable whether as an accompaniment to a meal or as a snack food. This recipe is my own variation on a theme and is served as a snack food with beer. For another chick-pea favourite see Kabuli Channa.


  • Tin of chick peas
  • Salt to taste
  • Chilli powder to taste
  • 1 tspn Mustard seed
  • 1 tspn Cummin Seed
  • 1/2 tspn Turmeric
  • 2 Tblspn Vegetable Oil


  1. Heat oil in wok and add mustard seed, fry until mustard starts to pop
  2. Add chick peas, cummin and turmeric. Fry until chick peas are deep golden
  3. Add salt and chili powder, fry for a minute more.
